After spending Christmas in the Swiss Alps, I made my way to Spain for New Years. Starting in Madrid, before visiting Toledo, and finishing up in Barcelona.
Madrid & Toledo
Madrid is the capital city of Spain, and is a very political city. I spent some time checking out the city, but I didn’t find it that exciting, so I decided to do a day trip to Toledo before leaving Madrid. I caught the train from Madrid to Toledo for a day trip to explore the original capital of Spain. Toledo was a gorgeous city, with its river surrounded hilltop castles, there are plenty of sights to see and markets to explore.
Barcelona was definitely my favourite city that I visited in Spain. I spent my time there exploring the city with a walking tour, enjoying heaps of awesome food from vegan restaurants, and the highlight for me which was visiting two of Gaudi’s most famous works, Park Guell and Sagrada Familia. I finished up my time in Barcelona on New Years with a fireworks display and a night out with friends from my hostel.
